Our Installation Guides provide step-by-step instructions for installing each of our products. Each guide outlines what you'll need and walks you through the entire process from start to finish. We understand that installation may not be familiar to everyone, so we've written our guides in a clear, easy-to-follow format using plain English.

Stand Alone - Pillars

Materials and Tools Required

  • Pillar mailbox (provided)
  • Anchor bolts (provided)
  • 8mm masonry drill
  • Pencil or chalk

  • Bucket / Wheelbarrow

Location & Base Preparation

Select a suitable location that is easily accessible for the postie and near the front of your property. Ensure no underground utilities will be compromised.

If you need to create a new base:

  1. Mark out a 500mm x 500mm square area.
  2. Dig out the area to a depth of at least 150mm and compact the soil.
  3. Mix the concrete following the manufacturer’s instructions and pour it into the prepared area.
  4. Level the concrete using a shovel or board.
  5. Allow the concrete to cure as per the manufacturer’s directions before proceeding.

Installation Steps

Position the Mailbox:

  • Place the mailbox on the cured concrete base.
  • Mark the positions of the four holes through the baseplate onto the concrete.

Drill Anchor Holes:

  • Remove the mailbox and drill holes in the marked spots using an 8mm masonry drill.
  • Make the holes slightly deeper than the length of the provided anchor bolts (approx. 80mm).
  • Clean any dust from the holes.

Secure the Mailbox:

  • Fit the mailbox over the holes and insert the anchor bolts through the baseplate into the concrete slab.
  • Using a wrench, tighten the bolts securely but avoid over-tightening, as this could damage the mailbox or thread.
  • Ensure the mailbox is stable and all bolts are tightened properly.

Your stand-alone pillar mailbox is now securely installed and ready for use!

Howick Box - Built-in Brick

Materials and Tools Required

  • Howick Box mailbox with front panel (provided)
  • Accessories (provided)
  • Drill
  • Timber drill bits
  • Tape measure
  • Jigsaw

Location & Height Recommendations

This mailbox is designed to be built into a brick or block wall. Choose a location that is easily accessible for your postie to ensure convenient mail delivery.

Recommended mail slot height:
90cm - 120cm from the ground.

Removing the Front Panel

Before installation, remove the front panel by following these steps:

  1. Open the front parcel door and locate the top two mounting nuts.
  2. Reach through the front parcel door and unscrew these two mounting nuts.
  3. Keep the front parcel door open, then open the rear door to access the remaining four mounting nuts.
  4. Unscrew the four nuts from the back.
  5. Gently pull the front panel to remove it from the black box. Set it aside for later reattachment.

Built-in Brick Installation

Prepare the Brickwork:

  • Build the brickwork up to the desired level where the mailbox will be positioned.

Position the Mailbox:

  • Place the mailbox in the prepared space.
  • For plain brick walls: Ensure the front flanges sit flush with the wall.
  • For rendered walls: Set the mailbox slightly forward to allow for the render thickness.

Complete the Brickwork:

  • Continue building the remaining brickwork around the mailbox.
  • If applying render, ensure the mailbox is positioned correctly before finishing the rendering.

Reattach the Front Panel:

  • Insert the four mounting studs through the corresponding holes in the mailbox.
  • Reach through the rear door to secure the studs with the nuts provided.
  • Reach through the front parcel door to secure the top two mounting nuts.
  • Ensure all nuts are tightened properly.

Your Howick Box is now securely installed and ready for use!

Howick Box - Fence

Materials and Tools Required

  • Howick Box mailbox with front panel (provided)
  • Accessories (provided)
  • Drill
  • Timber drill bits
  • Tape measure
  • Jigsaw

Location & Height Recommendations

This mailbox is designed to be mounted into a timber fence. Choose a location that is easily accessible for your postie to ensure convenient mail delivery.

Removing the Front Panel

  • Measure the black box and mark a slightly larger hole on the fence.
  • Cut the hole using a jigsaw.

Position the Mailbox:

  • Slide the black box through the front of the fence.
  • Secure the black box to the fence with the screws provided (pre-drilling the screw holes may make this easier).

Reattach the Front Panel:

  • Insert the four mounting studs through the corresponding holes in the black box.
  • Reach through the rear door to secure with the nuts provided.
  • Reach through the front parcel door to secure the two top mounting nuts.
  • Ensure all nuts are tightened properly.

Your Howick Box is now securely installed and ready for use!

Your carton should contain the following parts:

  • 1 x Front Panel
  • 1 x Back Box (Upper + Lower)
  • 1 x Mounting Bracket (attached to the inside of the letterbox)
  • 1 x Accessories Bag

Timber Fence Installation

Tools Required

  • Drill + Timber Drill Bit
  • Tape Measure
  • Jigsaw
  • Pencil
  • Spirit Level

Installation Steps

Step 1: Detach the Front Panel

  1. Open the parcel door.
  2. Unscrew the 4 bolts securing the front panel to the upper box.
  3. Remove the front panel.

Step 2: Detach the Lower Box

  1. Unscrew the 6 external bolts using the supplied Allen key.
  2. Open the parcel door and rear door.
  3. Unscrew the 2 internal bolts to fully detach the lower box.

Step 3: Mark the Fence Cutout (Requires two people)

  1. One person should hold the upper box against the fence.
  2. Use a spirit level to ensure the box is aligned correctly.
  3. The second person should trace around the perimeter of the box onto the fence.

Step 4: Cut the Fence Opening

  1. Use a jigsaw to cut along the marked perimeter.
  2. Push the upper box through the cutout as far as possible.
  3. Mark where to cut notches in the fence to accommodate the box.
  4. Remove the box and cut out the marked notches.

Step 5: Insert and Secure the Upper Box

  1. Fully insert the upper box through the cutout with the parcel door open.
  2. Close the door and secure the box using screws supplied in the following order:
  3. Once the first four screws are secured, install the remaining screws into the timber.

Step 6: Reattach the Front Panel

  1. Place the front panel into the box frame.
  2. Open the parcel door.
  3. Secure the 4 bolts removed in Step 1.

Step 7: Attach the Mounting Bracket

  1. Detach the mounting bracket from the inside of the letterbox by unscrewing the two sets of nuts and bolts.
  2. Reattach the mounting bracket onto the underside of the letterbox, loosely tightening the same bolts.
  3. Slide the mounting bracket forward until it touches the rear of the fence.
  4. Tighten the nuts to fully secure the mounting bracket.
  5. Secure the mounting bracket to the fence using the screws supplied.

Final Steps

  1. Check that all screws are secure and that the box is firmly fixed to the fence.
  2. Open and close the parcel door to ensure smooth operation.
  3. Your Ormiston Box is now installed and ready for use!

Setting Your Cam-Lock Code (for Genesis Box)

Follow these simple steps to set or reset your combination code for your cam lock:

Setting Your Code for the First Time

  1. Factory Default Code: Your cam lock is pre-set to "0-0-0", which is the unlocked position.
  2. Press the Reset Pin: Locate the reset pin on the bottom of the lock. It is a tiny hole. Use a small, pointed object such as a bobby pin or toothpick to press and hold it.
  3. Set Your New Combination: While holding the reset pin, turn the dials to your desired combination.
  4. Save Your Code: Release the tool once your new combination is set. Your new code is now active.

Resetting Your Code

  1. Turn the dials to your current combination.
  2. Follow the same steps above to set a new code.

🔒 Tip: Keep your new code in a safe place to avoid getting locked out.
